Day 26: What Manner of Love: Sons of God by The Grace of God

Day 26 meditation reveals the love of God to enable us to become sons of God.

If Paul can be called the apostle of grace, then John can be called the apostle of love. A quick analysis will reveal that the Gospel of John speaks of love almost twice as many times as the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke combined. The five books that John authored actually speak of love seventeen more times than the thirteen books authored by Paul. The little epistle of 1 John with its five chapters speaks of love more than the sixty chapters of Matthew, Mark, and Luke put together. The epistle of 1 John also refers to love almost one-half the number of times than Paul refers to love in all of his writings. The Gospel of John and the Epistle of 1 John amply reveal the heart of John, the love that God is.

Day 26 meditation is focused on the love of God being experienced by man.

Among the many powerful statements of 1 John is the revelation of “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God . . .” (1 John 3:1). What a marvelous truth that men who are ungodly, sinners, and enemies (Rom. 5:6, 8, 10) are now . . . the sons of God . . .” (1 John 3:2).

What glory, “. . . what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God . . .” (1 John 3:1). Those who are not the sons of God by nature can become the sons of God because of their oneness with the only begotten Son of God, Jesus. “For if by one man’s offense death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ” (Rom. 5:17). “Beloved, now are we the  sons of God. . .” (1 John 3:2). “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death . . . For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection” (Rom. 6:3,5). Coming under the control of the Holy Spirit, you can experience what it means to be a son of God simply because God will produce his nature in you through the only begotten Son of God.

Day 26 meditation is all about Christ living in and through you to enable you to be a son of God.

Jesus controlling your life so much so that it can be said of you that your life is not you but Christ in you (Gal. 2:20). Other people do not see you but see Jesus working in and through you. Your oneness with the Son of God enables you to experience what it means to be a son of God yourself. No wonder, John would say, “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us . . .” (1 John 3:1).
