Corinthians Bible Studies reveal the true essence of the good life, the
outer man perishes but the inner man is renewed day by day. |
Paul continues his
correspondence with the Corinthians. He further developments the
experiencing of life on the spiritual realm. He stated, "For
our rejoining is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity
and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we
have had our conversation in the world . . ." (1:11).
Paul's
life ("conversation") in the world was not of the world.
His life through the grace of God was the reality of the spiritual realm.
He proclaimed that although all men are flesh and blood creature they are
not to attempt to live life on the earthly realm.
In II Corinthians, Paul revealed the power
of the spiritual realm when he wrote "troubled on every side, yet not
distressed ; perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken;
cast down, but not destroyed" (4:8,9). The secret of that
supernatural existence is in experiencing the "treasure" that is
within the "earthen vessel" (4:7). Man must live of the
Spirit that dwells within him.
Although most men spend their entire life
"polishing" their vessel, the abundant life they desire to
experience is only of the "Treasure." Moreover, Paul
declared that the rich, full, contented life can only occur when men
"look not at the things which are seen, but the things which are not
seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things
which are not seen are eternal" (4:18). Although in the world,
man must not attempt to live of the world.
This mystery and secret of life was
revealed to Paul when the Lord told him, "My grace is sufficient for
thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness" (12:9). It
is actually when man becomes weak that the power of the spiritual realm
comes forth in his life. The change that needed to come about in the
Corinthians believers could not be produced by any action of their vessel,
the flesh.
Man can do nothing in the flesh to produce the spiritual
life. All men are changed into the image of Jesus Christ "even
as by the Spirit of the Lord" (3:18). The rich, full, contented
life for man can occur because he experiences the spiritual realm. |
