Perhaps the greatest love letter ever written,
Paul's letter to the Philippians proclaimed the love of God manifested among
believers. By the examples of Jesus, Timothy, Epaphroditus, and himself,
this letter expresses the magnificent obsession to serve mankind that God
creates in believers. Paul wrote of this love: "Yea, and if I
be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy and rejoice with
you all" (2:17).
This letter also records the mystery and secret
of life by its description of the manifestation of Jesus' love for mankind.
Paul wrote,
Let this mind be in you, which was also in
Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to
be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him
the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being
found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death,
even the death of the cross. (2:5-8)
Experiencing the love of te Father is always
manifested in love for others, which in turn causes the individual to experience
the essence of life--being poured out for others.
Is it any wonder, after Paul experienced such
love, he could say "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth
me" (4:13). He knew the love of God was his source: "For
it is God which worketh in [me] both to will and to do of his good
pleasure" (2:13). Paul was "enabled" for this magnificant
obsession by the grace of God.
The gospel contained in these tapes can enable the hearer of the Word to not only have the desire but also the power to
experience the will of God, to love and to be loved.
