PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP ADVICE WITH DR JAMES STONE

Dr. James Stone has been a professional
churchman for over forty years. He has been a pastor (17 years), a
Bible college and seminary professor (14 years), and a Christian consultant
(10 years). He has authored over twenty books (including, A
Theology of Family Care, White Wing Publishing House, 1988). He
also holds four post-graduate degrees (D.Min., Fuller Theological Seminary,
1987).

The highest expression of pleasure known to mankind is the coming
together of two people to experience the creation of new life. It is
when the physical and the spiritual come together in an ecstasy of
oneness--the total giving of the one to the other. Life reaches its
perfection when two people share these divinely significant moments.
Moreover, the nurturing of this new life is the joy of living.
Sadly, this paradise is seldom ever experienced, however. Most do not
trust one another. Primarily relationships are constantly being
corrupted. True feelings are seldom ever shared for fear of rejection.
Others are usually blamed for the difficulties of life. The heavenly
bliss of the embrace of two becomes the earthly hell of isolated, lonely
individuals.
Dr. Stone has spent his lifetime coming to grips with the struggle of
experiencing the good life, healthy relationships. In his newest book, Connections
of Life, he shares the insights that have changed lives down through
the ages of time. He writes, "the germinating relationship between
two people, the most basic connection of life, is actually the ground of
being for each individual. When both are continually experiencing the
growing process of the relationship, the knowing of each other becomes a
never-ending noble adventure in experiencing life. The knowing of
another is always the joy of life."
He adds, "these connections of life, when they begin, are like the
smallest seed planted in one’s life. Yet, if the relationship is
allowed to grow to maturity, the process, the growing together of two to
become one, becomes the greatest event of their lives."
With his doctoral studies and dissertation on family care and directing
for over ten years a consulting ministry of personal, family, and church
growth, he states that his interaction with people has been both
challenging and rewarding. It has brought him to understand that
"the interaction in primary relationship is the essence and mystery
of life."
