Corinthians Bible Studies proclaim the mystery and the power of the
spiritual life over the fleshly life and how you can experience it.

Through Paul's correspondence with the
Corinthian believers, a vivid picture of their daily struggles has been
preserved. Moreover, in dealing with those pressing problems that
seemed to dominate the church in Corinth, his writings produced a powerful
proclamation on living the spiritual life.
Even in the midst of their
struggles, he was thankful "for the grace of God which is given you
by Jesus Christ; That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all
utterance, and in all knowledge; Even as the testimony of Christ was
confirmed in you: So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the
coming of our Lord Jesus" (1:4-7). He knew the answer for their
problem was the fullness of the coming of Jesus in their lives.
Although they were attempting to experience
life in their "tongues," "prophecy,"
"faith," and "self-denial" (13:1-3), Paul knew
that they saw "through a glass darkly" (13:1). They
needed to come face to face with Jesus. Jesus Christ needed to come
forth in their lives in all of His majesty and glory. They needed
him to become
the breath and heart-beat of their lives.
When the life of Jesus becomes the life of
the believer, then those things which were used to experience life in the
past are "done away" and "that which is perfect is
come" (13:10). Until the full resurrection of Jesus in the
believer's life occurs, however, the believer is "of all men most
miserable" (15:19). The believer who has experienced this
"resurrection of the dead" has moved from
"corruption," "dishonor," "weakness,"
and "a natural body." He now experiences
"incorruption," "glory," "power," and
"a spiritual body." He now experiences the risen Christ in
his life. He lives because he experiences Jesus.
