The most significant contribution to the
Western world that the Jewish nation can lay claim is the understanding
that God is in control of all things. This simple truth lived out in the
lives of believers produces the good life. It is the concept of the grace
of God being manifested in the world. Ezekiel proclaimed that God brings
judgment on all those who bring trouble into the lives of other people.
"Revenge is mine,’ saith the Lord," is not just a statement of
the power of God. It is the reality of how one lives in peace, in joy, and
in righteousness in a world of conflict, of despair, and of unfairness.
