MYSTERY OF GOD'S WILL
"Who works all things after the counsel of His own will."
|
Session
1: Christian Mystery -- Ephesians 1:1-7
|
PURPOSE
OF SESSION
|
To
begin to grasp that Christian mystery is something which has been
revealed by God to man and which man could not have discovered for
himself. Christian mystery is something which is hidden and obscure to
the outsider, but clear and meaningful to the mature Christian.
|
EMPHASIS
OF SESSION
|
God
formed man out of the dust of the earth and then breathed into his
nostrils the breath of life, the Spirit of God. It is the plan or the
will of God for all things created to experience life by the creature
experiencing the expression of God that dwells within. The mystery of
His will is to bring about life is such a way that man’s existence
would be under the influence of the Spirit of God.
|

Session
2: Sealed with the Holy Spirit -- Ephesians 1:8-14
|
PURPOSE
OF SESSION
|
To
begin to understand that although man finds himself in a troublesome, a
perplexing, a precarious, and an often violent flesh and blood world,
he, nevertheless, can experience what he was meant to experience from
the beginning of his existence, life in the Spirit of God, the heavenly
realm.
|
EMPHASIS
OF SESSION
|
What
it means to be a human being is to have a flesh and blood body that has
been quickened by the breath of God. With the limits and habitation of
man set, it was necessary for the Son of God to become the Son of man in
order for man to experience the life that is only within God. It is the
indwelling of the Holy Spirit, the quickening breath of life that
enables all men to live.
|
METHOD

Session
3: The Father of Glory -- Ephesians 1:15-23
|
PURPOSE
OF SESSION
|
To
begin to come to realize that the experiencing of the glory of God is
inseparably tied to the mystery of God’s will, how God works out His
intent and His desire in the world.
|
EMPHASIS
OF SESSION
|
All
the tenets of Christian faith hang on the belief that there is a God and
that He has chosen to reveal himself. As this revelation is traced
through the pages of history, the all knowing, everywhere present, and
all powerful God revealed Himself in what has become known as the
manifestation of His glory.
|
METHOD

|
1.
Read the printed lesson for Session 3.
2. Listen to the recording for the session (Be sure to write down any

Session
4: His Workmanship -- Ephesians 2:1-10
|
PURPOSE
OF SESSION
|
To
begin to know that God rules in every event and action in the created
world.
|
EMPHASIS
OF SESSION
|
The
underlying theme that runs throughout the opening comments of Paul is
God rules heaven and earth. All things do occur "according to the
purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own
will." Paul would later summarize this theme in the simple
statement, "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus
unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in
them" (Eph. 2:10). With workmanship literally meaning
"product," the true saint is the total work of God.
|

Session
5: Spiritual Kingdom -- Ephesians 2:11-22
|
PURPOSE
OF SESSION
|
To
begin to grasp that the power of the realized kingdom of God has been
available to all people since the death, resurrection, ascension, and
return of Christ through the Holy Spirit to His people.
|
EMPHASIS
OF SESSION
|
The
main topic of the preaching of Jesus during his earthly ministry was the
kingdom of God. The earliest written history of the church begins and
ends with statements concerning the kingdom of God. It can be
justifiably set forth from those records that the kingdom of God
experienced by the disciples of Jesus was the basis for the radical
change in their lives.
|
METHOD
OF SESSION
|
|
1.
Read the printed lesson for Session 5.
2. Listen to the recording for the session (Be sure to write down any

Session
6: Fellowship of the Mystery -- Ephesians 3:1-12
|
PURPOSE
OF SESSION
|
To
begin to come to realize that the interaction between people actually
becomes the scared things of the heavenly temple for it is how God
dwells among His people in the spiritual house of God, which is the
fellowship of the mystery.
|
EMPHASIS
OF SESSION
|
The
true priesthood of God takes on the nature of God. The nature of God
within man that propels him to not resist what God is doing in his life,
transforming him to the image of His Son Jesus Christ. That
transformation process occurs in the mystery and secret of life, the
willingness to be taken down by God to be raised to newness of life for
others. It is how the heavenly Jesus comes to be experienced in the
physical world.
|
METHOD
OF SESSION
|
|

for Session 6.
2. Listen to the recording for the session (Be sure to write down any

Session
7: The Power
that Works in Us -- Ephesians 3:13-21
|
PURPOSE
OF SESSION
|
To
begin to understand that when the earthly house that is corruptible is
overwhelmed by the Power of the life of God that is incorruptible (the
manifestation of Jesus coming through the mortal body), the true
believer can say, "Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where
is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory."
|
EMPHASIS
OF SESSION
|
Man
often desires that the current struggle of the dying process would be
over and that Jesus would come bringing the newness of the resurrected
life. The true believer does not want to leave the life of the physical
world. He just wants it to be swallowed up by the life of God.
|
METHOD
OF SESSION
|
|
1. Read the printed lesson
for Session 7.
2. Listen to the recording for the session (Be sure to write down any
questions or points of interest for the discussion time.)

Session
8: Grace As
It Is Needed -- Ephesians 4:1-7
|
PURPOSE
OF SESSION
|
To
begin to know that the coming forth of the miracle of life within the
created world always comes forth in the labor pains of physical death,
the dying to something in the earthly domain.
|
EMPHASIS
OF SESSION
|
The
early followers of Jesus believed that Jesus had not only returned to
them by the Holy Spirit on the Jewish Feast of Pentecost, but they also
believed that the revelation of His presence would be manifested
every time the present condition of life needed to be brought to an end
and a new beginning experienced.
|
METHOD

|
|
1. Read the printed lesson
for Session 8.
2. Listen to the recording for the session (Be sure to write down any
questions or points of interest for the discussion time.)

Session
9: Mystery of
Togetherness -- Ephesians 4:8-16
|
PURPOSE
OF SESSION
|
To
begin to grasp that it is an honest and open relationship that allows
for the mutual giving and receiving of each person as they interact with
one another that enables both people to experience the complete,
contented life.
|
EMPHASIS
OF SESSION
|
If
man is left to himself, he will forever remain incomplete. He will
remain in isolation. Covering himself, hiding in shame, blaming others,
and incapable of communicating accurately, man does not have the
capability to lift himself from his hopelessness.
|
METHOD
OF SESSION
|
|
1. Read the printed lesson
for Session 9.
2. Listen to the recording for the session (Be sure to write down any

Session
10: Vanity of
Mind -- Ephesians 4:17-21
|
PURPOSE
OF SESSION
|
To
begin to know that satanic activity, the forces of the adversary to God,
always come from the inner working of the mind of man.
|
EMPHASIS
OF SESSION
|
In
a world created by his fantasies and imaginations, man believes he
controls the events of his life. God still rules every action of the
universe, but in the make believe world of his mind man thinks he
controls his life. His own imagination is the great adversary to the
ways of God in the life of every man.
|
METHOD
OF SESSION
|
|
1. Read the printed lesson
for Session 10.
2. Listen to the recording for the session (Be sure to write down any

Session
11: Fires of
Hell -- Ephesians 4:22-32
|
PURPOSE
OF SESSION
|
To
begin to know that the thinking that never gets out of the continual
fires of heated conflict and away from the continual gnawing maggots of
bitter envy never experiences the abundant life of peace, joy, and
righteousness in the kingdom of God. Hell is real and Jesus is the only
means of escape.
|
EMPHASIS
OF SESSION
|
Although
the preaching and the teaching of hell have often been extensive in the
history of the visible church, the early followers of Jesus rarely
mentioned it. Apart from the gospels and the quoting of David, hell is
cited only six times. In all the letters written by the early followers
of Jesus that have come down to us, it is presented only two times.
|
METHOD
OF SESSION
|
|
1. Read the printed lesson
for Session 11.
2. Listen to the recording for the session (Be sure to write down any

Session
12: Innocence
of Mind -- Ephesians 5:1-7
|
PURPOSE
OF SESSION
|
To
begin to come to realize that the glory of the harvest comes only in the
innocence of the mind, only when Jesus controls the mind of the person.
|
EMPHASIS
OF SESSION
|
Jesus
came to overcome man and to save him from himself thereby restoring the
mind to what it was before the fall. The good life that everyone desires
only occurs when we become as little children and experience life in the
innocence of our mind.
|
METHOD
OF SESSION

1. Read the printed lesson
for Session 12.
2. Listen to the recording for the session (Be sure to write down any

Session
13: Baptism of
the Holy Spirit -- Ephesians 5:8-21
|
PURPOSE
OF SESSION
|
To
begin to know that every man will find himself continually at the
crossroads of defending his current existence from the encumbrance of
others or willingly experience the death of that existence through the
control of his mind by the Spirit of God.
|
EMPHASIS
OF SESSION
|
The
true believer, by the power of the Holy Spirit, can have a joyful heart,
a thankful attitude, and a submissive will in the midst of the
germinating process. The sting of death has been conquered by the grace
of God in the innocence mind. It is the power of salvation as Jesus
comes to deliver His people in and through the circumstances of life.

14: A Great
Mystery -- Ephesians 5:22-6:9
|
PURPOSE
OF SESSION
|
To
begin to come to understand that the cycle of life, the continual
interaction between people, overcomes the fragments of isolation and
loneliness.
|
EMPHASIS
OF SESSION
|
Life
is complete when the relationships become greater than the sum of the
two individuals. This completeness occurs only when the relationship
becomes supernatural, the experiencing of Jesus in the connection. It is
evident when the two are controlled by the Holy Spirit.
|

Session
15: Withstand
to Stand -- Ephesians 6:10-24
|
PURPOSE
OF SESSION
|
To
begin to understand that spiritual warfare always takes place in man’s
mind, which is always the adversary that must be conquered.
|
EMPHASIS
OF SESSION
|
By
being invested with the whole armor of God, the believer will be able to
withstand, to stand, having done all. Standing for the believer is not
accomplished by his attempt to stand in his own might, but more
importantly, the battle of life is not even in the standing. It is in
the withstanding before the standing ever occurs. The battle is always
fought in the mind of the believer before any blows are ever encountered
in the physical circumstances.
