| The essence of Biblical
counseling simply declares that time does not change the struggles of
man. The conditions that existed among the believers of Corinth in the
days of the writing of the New Testament sounds like the everyday
affairs of modern man. The atmosphere was charged with aggressive
competitiveness, unrestrained individuality, sexual abuse, and dietary
concerns. They even had those who thought they knew it all and attempted
to make everyone live accordingly. Living in the flesh and blood world
of human existence always seems to produce divisions, conflict, and
injustice. These issues, in turn, produce the need for Biblical
Counseling.
Biblical counseling also declares that
the only salvation for man is for God to intervene into the affairs of
man and establish His kingdom. Man has to be literally saved from
himself. He has to experience a baptism that takes him down in death to
the earthly reign of corruption and decay and raises him in life to the
heavenly reign of incorruption and glory. God must intervene into the
lives of men through the mysteries of baptism to enable them to
experience the power of the kingdom of God on this earth. The
power of Biblical counseling lies in the experiencing of Jesus Christ.
Finally, Biblical counseling declares
that all men have the opportunity to experience the glory and the power
of the life of God. In a world of completion, selfishness, sexual
harassment, dietary abuse, and one-upmanship, man can experience peace,
joy, and fairness. Although living in the world, man can come to
experience being not of the world. God, through the mysteries of
baptism, can intervene and establish His kingdom. It is the great
hope of Biblical counseling.
The
coming of Christ into your life in each manifestation of His glory is
the essence of the continual good life. It ultimately occurs as you experience
Jesus in the connection with another person. Biblical counseling
is where two people come together and the revelation of Jesus Christ is
made manifest among them.
