Daniel, Shadrach, Mishach and Abednego were slaves in Babylon .  King Nebuchadnezzar recognized that these Israelites had unusual wisdom and could be useful in his kingdom.  The King chose to provide them with the finest Babylon education which included learning the occult, idolatry and ways of a society known for its extreme perversions. Every person, at some point in life, raises the ageless questions. "What is life really all about?" "Where can the essence of true living be found?" Paul raised this question to the Thessalonians, ". . . what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing?"  He answered his own question with the secret of living life in this world: "Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming."  Hope, joy, crown of rejoicing living has something to do with others and the presence of Christ at his coming. It seems to be the best of times. With television stations flooded with Christian programming, radio airways saturated with religious broadcasting, and printing presses turning out a multi-million dollar business of church literature, the modern day church has no equal in any age in the promotion of itself to the world. Did Jesus, Peter, Paul, and James believe in satanic power? Absolutely, but they were not mythological in their belief. They did not make the adversary to their soul into something he was not. The coming of Christ as seen in your life is the ultimate fulfillment of God’s purpose in sending His son to be clothed in human flesh. With John using the word "know" 42 times, the phrase "in him" 28 times, and the word "abide" 25 times in the 105 verses of his first letter, he desired that his first readers and you to know, to experience, the manifestation of God in their lives. You can know that you are abiding in him because you have a witness: "the Spirit raining upon [you] producing the kinship of [your] existence." John summarized that work of the Spirit in the fellowship of believers in one word, love.
