The coming of Christ as seen in your life is the ultimate fulfillment of God’s purpose in sending His son to be clothed in human flesh. With John using the word "know" 42 times, the phrase "in him" 28 times, and the word "abide" 25 times in the 105 verses of his first letter, he desired that his first readers (and you) to know, to experience, the manifestation of God in their lives. You can know that you are abiding in him because you have a witness: "the Spirit raining upon [you] producing the kinship of [your] existence." John summarized that work of the Spirit in the fellowship of believers in one word, love. John used the word "love" 33 times in the 105 verses of his first letter illustrating how Christ is manifested, once again, in the flesh–by love that is experienced in the connections of believers. In perhaps the earliest record of the Christian faith, James reveals the simplicity of the message of Jesus. Life is not about Biblical knowledge, Christian work, or church organization. Its about how we interact with one another. In a world of war, famine, pestilence and many other human sufferings, the intimate relationship with Jesus as it works out in and through others builds a faith for life that does not waver. Every person, at some point in life, raises the ageless questions. "What is life really all about?" "Where can the essence of true living be found?" "How does one experience the good life?"  The quest for the meaning of life seems to be embedded within what it means to be a human being.  The letters of Peter profoundly address those same inquiries. Peter simply summarized that the essence of life is found in "he that will love life, and see good days."  Then, he proclaims that this loving life and seeing good days is the promise of being "heirs together of the grace of life."  Peter reveals the mystery of letting Jesus flow through you into the lives of others by the grace of God. The sins of Israel and their refusal to return to God brought destruction to the temple, to the city and to the nation. When Israel was in the depth of their distress during the midnight of their captivity, Ezekiel received a glorious vision of the coming morning when the temple, Jerusalem, and Israel would be restored. Amazingly, the prophecies of Ezekiel are for all man, for all tribes, and for all nations. The prophecies of Ezekiel reveal how every man can experience a new temple, a new city, and a new nation not made with hands. It seems to be the best of times. With television stations flooded with Christian programming, radio airways saturated with religious broadcasting, and printing presses turning out a multi-million dollar business of church literature, the modern day church has no equal in any age in the promotion of itself to the world. The simple preaching of Jesus that immediately changed lives has been replaced by a multi-task obligation to be accomplished in this life to lay up treasures for the life to come. The emphasis of the church’s message has shifted from Jesus living in and through the believer to the believer becoming all they can be by their own positive thinking and assertive actions. Let God speak to you through the twelve minor prophets to bring the emphasis of your life back to Jesus. As they prophesied to the people of God in the last century before the coming of Christ, they will also speak to you to bring a renew emphasis of the centrality of Jesus in your life. Paul raised this question to the Thessalonians, ". . . what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing?"  He answered his own question with the secret of living life in this world: "Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming."  Hope, joy, crown of rejoicing living has something to do with others and the presence of Christ at his coming. You can understand this mystery of heaven on earth as Paul takes you through the "dead in Christ shall rise first," the "meeting in the air," and just who is the "man of sin."  Let Paul reveal what the "coming of Christ" (a phrase that is used over 300 times in the New Testament) really means as you experience the nearness of Christ in your relationship with others. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians contains two themes: the majesty of Jesus Christ and the consequential manifestation of himself among His people.  Because Jesus was raised from the dead by His heavenly Father, ascended to the heavenly realm, and returned in the power of the Holy Spirit, it enables the believer to be "quickened . . . together with Christ."  It enables the believer to be "raised . . . up together, and made [to] set together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus."  Because of these truths, you do not live for Christ but you experience the life of Christ as he lives in and through you.  You can be an ambassador of the kingdom of God by demonstrating with Paul that even though you find yourself often in some prison, ridiculed, and mocked what the world sees is the peace, the joy, and a sense of justice that comes from experiencing the mystery and the power of the heavenly realm. Many Christians struggle to experience the peace, the joy, and the sense of justice that should occur in the abundant life of Christianity. They started out well, but something has happened that prohibits them from experiencing the life they know they should be enjoying.  The believers in Galatia had a similar experience. Charismatic teachers had stirred their emotions and seduced them in to taking their eyes off Jesus.  Becoming religious and zealous in their activities of working for God, they soon found they were in bondage to the very things they were attempting to do. In the most spiritual of the gospels, John stated that he wrote his gospel, ". . . that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name." Amazingly, John’s gospel was written that you might simply experience life in Jesus, the Christ. Jesus said, as recorded by John, "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain . . . ." As you pass out of sight (meaning of "go") being placed horizontally and passive (meaning of ordained) in Jesus, his life (the fruit of every believer) comes forth to remain. In sending a run away slave back to his owner, Paul in not condoning slavery but emphasizing the characteristics of life on a higher spiritual realm. Throughout this short letter, Paul declares that the believer is of two worlds. He is flesh and blood, yet, he has the breath and expression of God within his being.  The actual physical circumstances of life can be swallowed up by the presence of Jesus that can carry the believer above his circumstances.  Coming to understand the truths of Philemon, you can experience the essence, the means, and the power of experiencing life on the higher realm regardless of the physical circumstances. In perhaps the greatest love letter ever written, Paul’s letter to the Philippians declares the love of God that can be experienced between one and another.  By the examples of Jesus, Timothy, Epaphroditus, and himself, this letter expresses the magnificent obsession to serve one another that God creates in believers. It is expressed as, "Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy and rejoice with you all."  Experiencing the love of God is always manifested in love for others, which in turn causes the believer to experience the essence of life, being poured out for others.  The gospel contained in this letter can enable you to not only experience the desire but also the power of performer the will of God for your life, to love and be loved. Paul’s letter to the Romans is the greatest story ever written by man of what it means to be a Christian. It is the powerful and good news that God the Father has sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into the lives of men to baptize them with His Spirit to take them where they could not and would not go themselves. Travel with Paul down the Roman road as he begins by declaring the good message of the death and resurrection of Jesus. Then, go with him as he explains the fall of man, the salvation of man, and the full restoration of man. In perhaps the most provocative passage of recorded Scriptures (Romans 7-11), Paul sets for the challenge of man. He closes his letter with the life of man who experiences the glory of living in the grace of God. Everyone who has ever heard the message of grace in Paul’s letter to the Romans has always had his life forever changed. (48 session series)

What so wrong with worship, humility, and self-denial?  Paul wrote in his Colossians letter to "touch not, taste not, handle not; which all are to perish with the using."  These challenging statements were made by Paul after giving four warnings: do not be stirred away from the gospel; do not be deceived with enticing words; do not become the booty of any man; and do not be deceived with a voluntary humility to worship the messenger.  How the persuasive preacher entraps you is by stirring you into acts of worship, humility, and self-denial. Being thus stirred, you would lose the prize of experiencing the life of Christ. Unfortunately, the letter of Colossians challenges the religious practices of many modern day ministries.  Hear the gospel in this letter and you can be saved from needless failures and heartaches. At the end of what we know as Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, he gives the secret and solution to the mystery of life. Since we have the treasure of God’s spirit in a flesh and blood body, the good life is a simply matter of where we put our focus for living. Our flesh and blood body determines that the domain of our living will always be physical, weak, decaying, and dying. But the presence of God within us is always spiritual, powerful, does not decay, and never dies. When our focus of life is upon the physical, we will be compelled to use others in our attempt to experience life producing envying, divisions, fornication, pride, and many other failures as exhibited in the Corinthian church. When the focus is upon the Spirit of God that dwells within, we become spiritual exhibiting in our life the essence of what God is, love. This first letter to the Corinthians reveals the power of the spiritual life, to love and be loved in the manifestation of God among us. (32 session series)

In Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians, he continues his quest for the spiritual. He reveals that you can be "troubled on every side, yet not distressed ; perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed." In fact, distressed, despair, a sense of be forsaken and a sense of being destroyed is the meaning of experiencing hell in the New Testament. Your experience in life does not have to be hellish. It can be heavenly by "look[ing] not at the things which are see, but the things which are not seen." The secret of that supernatural existence is in experiencing the treasure that is within the earthen vessel. You must live of the Spirit that dwells within you. The gospel in this second letter of Corinthians can carry you to the high and lofty realm of the Spirit. (32 session series)

Marks gospel is the shortest of the four gospels and perhaps the most powerful. More powerful in that it begins with the actual ministry of Jesus and quickly moves through the manifestation of His earthly life. It is a fast paced account of the life and the power of the Father working in and through His Son. It ends with the ultimate example of the principle of Jesus' entire earthly life. He died that he might be raised. Mark proclaims the intervention of God into the lives of men by the manifestation of His miraculous power.
